Evolving Recipeace

8.10.12

Happpppy Friday!!!!! Today was the best!  I had a blast in the sun, making chocolate and smoothies, hanging out in Encinitas, teaching a candlelit class back down here in Chula and then ended with some Vegan Nachos.....So yesterday I wrote out a recipe for what I like to call emergency cacaodom.  When I really need chocolate and Sprouts is the closest place to get ingredients.  And I shared with you how to start making your own and play with the flavors.  Today I want to talk about what else I do after I make the chocolate.  It's really rad making chocolate for others because then I can use the leftovers of what's in the blender pitcher to make a superfood smoothie that is full of chocolate as well.  I didn't have everything I needed to make the smoothie so I went to Sprouts and Trader Joes.  I ended up getting to see one of my friends there and coming up with ideas for more recipes.  I had already made the chocolate and put it into two glass containers for other people.  Then in the blender with about a half cup of the cacao coco cashew butter left I added strawberries, Blueberries, raspberries, bananas, coco water and a jalepeno oh yes and Chia seeds that were a total impulse buy at the register at Trader Joes:)  they were good in the smoothie but I think I dig hemp hearts more...we'll discuss it though:)  As I was making the smoothie I started soaking some pecan pieces I had picked up at trader joes.  So then in Vinny the Vitamix went soaked pecans, water, 5 dates, spoonful of coco oil, a dollup of honey and a bit of sea salt.  I had wanted to make a raw pie bottom but instead it was more like a delicious mushy cookie ha so I decided to put half of this new pecan concoction with the other half of the cacaococo cashew butter and then put in the fridge...oh wow it was lovely:)

Baby Bro and me with our smoothies....it felt like a whole days worth of food!  Talk about superecharging superfood smoothie!

the ingredients we talked about that I added after making the chocolate.

this is what I did with the chocolate made today....

it then turned into not only food but an art project for yinyang expression:)

gotta get my MSM on so I ordered an orange juice at the java hut in enci and poured half in the glass container so I could mix in and drink my not so nice tasting drink part first then enjoy the rest of the oj plain as a treat after finishing the MSM:) its the little niceness that sometimes only we know about that makes things special

Chocolate reciPEACE

8.9.12

These are the finished chocolates I made today...it actually evolved from the time I started as being a fudge t o a chocolate cashew butter...was even better when cold.  Recipeace below

Went to Sprouts to grab a couple of things and they have this little raw section...pretty rad I love this brand .

So everything here you can get from Sprouts...I used Dagoba Cacao which I believe may techniquely not be raw because its says cocoa on the back, so if I were making for raw friends I would use different cacao. half cup of cacao powder, cup of coco water(fresh is best of course) coco meat, 2 tbl of honey, 2 tbl of coconut oil, pinch of sea salt and half tsp of vanilla.  If you blend all of that together you get a basic non dairy chocolate syrup...from there you can add things depending upon what you want, I wanted it thicker so I added cashews and blended super high for a long time so it would be really creamer.  You can add avocado for a mouse you can add lucuma for sweetner and creamier. Any other herbs you're into.  Also cayenne, I love making my chocolate spicy usually.  You can add raw sugar or dates if it's not sweet enough for your taste, or stevia instead of the honey if you're staying away from sugar....Also a lot of recipes use almond butter...I research chocolate recipes always and then take what I want from them and play and create until I come up with the taste and consistency i want.

I use real coconuts as often as possible...for this recipe I drank some of the coco and used the rest in chocolate was delicious.

Safety First

8.8.12

Today was awesome, I love Wednesdays.  I get to teach to classes in the morning at Chula and then it was off to lunch with the fajer.  I ran over a hugemongous rock that started deflating my tire as I pulled up to meet my pops...so we drove our meeting down the street to discount tire co and had lunch at our regular Frutas while Discount fixed Bobbi up.  Ended up getting her a brand new set of tires and she is super stoked!  It's all about the foundation after all.  Was interesting it was in the back left tire where the hole started...so if I were to compare my cars body to my own especially since I "coincidentally" "happened" to hurt the same exact tire as last time.  I would look along my left side(feminine side) toward my leg or root area.  Which of course matches up perfectly.  As I start to get myself balanced, little reminders come up to make sure I am going the whole way...and how rad that instead of covering up the hole I was blessed to get new tires all together so Bobbi can continue serving us safely another 65,000 miles.  Safety First:)

Love4all. See you Manana!

rest is key

8.7.12

It's been an interesting couple of days as I added some solid into my diet.  I found that my body is happier with the liquids only right now, so I will go back to juicing and one smoothie per day.  I want to really come back slowly so I can continue to enjoy where my body is now and also look forward to all the progression as I become lighter.  The documentaries and research have been key to helping inspire me plus all the feedback from everyone and where they are on their journeys.  It seems that adding a juice a day to your life or a superfood smoothie a day can truly benefit you and everyone that surrounds you.  I have been sleepy the last couple of days, so I have been resting but here are a couple of pictures:

Good moorning coconut water...I used to go to 7 eleven every am and get cinnamon flavored coffee plus add sugar and milk...it was like a milk shake...I loved drinking iced coffee all day long.  Now I start my day either with water or coco water before I do anything else.  It's something David Wolfe talks about often, the simplest thing starting with water.  I took this picture for my teacher Mark,,,,he called me before one of his classes to cover once and I told him yes...then I realized I only had jeans and I wasn't comfortable teaching in them so I asked someone else to cover....am nice and cozy in my skin now, I could teach in anything...love you Markkkkkitos.

squash from my aunts garden! potatoes, bellpepps, onions, garlic...in coco oil, sea salt and italian herbs with nutritional yeast and cayenne for kick

teaching at cvyc will forever be like no other feeling in the world...i love that space.

GOOD night!  Love4all!  See you manana!

2 weeks awe Nutssss.-14 lbs in 14 days

8.6.12

This weekend was great!  Felt weird not publishing...I met a new shoulder bone that was epic. and I had a really great day Saturday, I hung out with my mom and made chocolate and relaxed.  The smells of things are getting even more intense! Yesterday was day 14 it was also 1 year since the Kaykosies ran free! His lil spirit is still around in everything, but I really miss that kat.  I decided to have a chocolate smoothie on my 14th day! was fantastic...the recipe is below.  And then also today I added nuts to my smoothie and ate some "nut" meat I had made with salsa on top....not quite liquid:) my first real chewing I suppose.  I am feeling pretty heavy after it though, so I will probably go back to just the juice and smoothies manana no more nuts!  Made a little juice at my friends house yesterday they just got a rad juicer...we used carrots, orange, apple, cucumber, &spinach.  I've been big into watching documentaries, especially health docs right now, I watched: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead; Foodmatters & Killer at Large.  Here's some pictures from the weekend:
